Now Open for Applications! Tohoku University Engineering Short Program – Summer 2026

The Tohoku University Engineering Summer Program (TESP) is a 16-day international program that brings together engineering students from around the world. Conducted entirely in English, it features lectures and hands-on activities on advanced engineering topics, along with cultural experiences that deepen participants’ understanding of Japan. Each summer, around 50 students gather on the Aobayama Campus to learn, collaborate, and create lasting memories.

Format

Lectures, laboratory hands-on activities, Japanese language class, Japanese cultural experiences (e.g., kimono dressing, tea ceremony, doll painting), and field trips are included. Please refer to each field’s page for details.

Fee

90,000 JPY

The fee covers tuition, experimental materials, cultural and social activities, two field trips, and weekday cafeteria vouchers. Participants are responsible for their own accommodation, local transportation, airfare, and insurance.

Accommodation

Participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodation.
